June 2019 CKC, Layout #5.

Hello,

Today I am sharing another June Counterfeit Kit Challenge layout. This one is very bright and a little crazy. I am having fun using my kit and most layouts I am creating are very sunny. The photo used in this layout is an old one of my son at a dress up party, the photo is not the best quality but I did want to record this funny moment in time. My son is always a good sport and willing to dress up, at Christmas, he always turns up dressed as Santa Claus and adds to the fun.

I selected a mix of papers and scraps from my kit.

To start with, a piece of the American Crafts heart cut file sheet to use up, I cut it in half and filled the hearts with scrap paper from my kit.

Next, I worked on the background, inking up a piece of white cardstock using the plastic bag technique and some gorgeous ‘Mustard Seed’ Tim Holtz Oxide Distress Ink. This colour is still my favourite, it is so vibrant and can be used in many ways, becoming subtle when you add more water and less ink.

Because I had a clear vision in mind of how I wanted the layout set out I added the title first, I needed to make sure I had enough space to fit my photo along the side. The title was cut using an Altnew alpha die set and my Sizzix Big Shot, using the lovely striped paper from my kit.

Next, I mounted my photo using scraps of patterned paper from my kit. I tried to pull in some colours similar to the clothes in the photo. Then, I adhered my cut file hearts and the mounted photo to the background and went to work adding embellishments. Many of the embellishments were fussy cut from the American Craft cut apart sheet and fixed in place with foam tape. I added some gems for some colour and glitz.

The finished layout turned out just how I had wanted it, colourful and fun!

Keep on scrapping 🙂
